Summary: 4500 Hotel & Restaurants
Comment: I was at a hotel complaining about how I no longer felt that I could trust the advise given to me by friends, the internet, or guides about the state of holiday accommodation, especially in London. I noticed some guides on a bookshelf and started to read. I looked up accommodation that I had used and compared the comments with my own recollections. The ONLY guide that seemed to be true was the Michelin guide, so I bought a copy.

One of the things I like about the guide is that it encourages recommendations from their readers. It means that they are constantly revising and re-checking their information. If you know of any stunningly good small boutique hotels please let them know.

Michelin is now the ONLY guide I use for accommodation. Then I go on-line to check the information and make the final choice.

I use the Michelin guide to select the restaurant for the first night of a stay, then use word of mouth from then on for the food. Verbal recommendations for local food often provide more unusual memories to look back on.
