Summary: Great Little Map
Comment: I eventually managed to find this map after seeing another walker use it and I am now on my second one. This a great little map for the West Highland Way but my description gives it away... it is not a big map and if you are looking for routes surrounding the West Highland Way and for telephone numbers for accommodation, etc then you may well need something more detailed. I would like to confirm though that the detail surrounding the West Highland Way itself is excellent and very clear, showing all the usual features including contours, bridges, forests, burns, etc and is all you'll need for walking unless you intend to leave the West Highland Way and explore the hills (in which case I'd suggest nothing short of the Ordnance Survey Explorer maps).
If, like me, you are looking for a quick map and guide to keep you on the right track (and tell you how far you've walked) then this is invaluable. I have walked the West Highland Way several times now and know my way, however I still take this map with me. It's lightweight and easy to unfold/fold which is great when it's wet and windy (and when the midges are out!). Excellent!

Summary: Disappointed!
Comment: I must say that this map/guide did not live up to expectations, the previous reviews gave it glowing reports that talked me in to buying this, and now I regret it.
The statement of "complete map/guide" is somewhat an overstatement for it is far from complete!
It is easy to read and quite compact but it lacks any real information, it mentions B&Bs, hotels, and campsite facilities, but they don't give phone numbers for them.
They also mention things like Rowardennan being the starting point for a footpath up Ben Lomond but they don't include it on the map, I like the little detours up Ben Lomond and the likes and I feel most people do so any guide claiming to be "the complete guide" should surely include these.
The maps do not give you any room to come off the WHW if you wander from the path on a small detour up a mountain or on a ferry then you will need to have another map.
With it being a guide I thought a few pictures and more information would be on it, but this was another let down for me, to sum it up as a map it is not a lot of good unless you plan to stick totally to the WHW path, and as a guide it is not really got that much information on it to justify you buying it as a guide as they give no history of the area and towns.
I think this is no good to me as a map or a guide so feel it was a waste of money and I am now buying a guide book and a map separately as I was going to do originally but I was persuaded by reviews that this item recieved, I will try not to make that mistake again.

Summary: Guide Book & Map in One!
Comment: If you are looking for an easy to read and compact map & guide combination this is about the best. The added information is comprehensive and was very useful in planning our attempt of the WHW. It gives distances in miles and height in feet only which some people may not like. We will be putting it to the ultimate test this summer.

Summary: Exactly the information you need
Comment: I must say, this is a first rate guide, having exactly the information needed in a very concise and clear form. My minor gripes are that the stated number of feet climbed by section is often optimistic and lot of people would like to see kilometers marked in addition to miles. The fact that it's on waterproof paper is an excellent feature; that and its small size mean that you can pocket it and repeatedly refer to it even in the wet. By the way, if you mark additional info (e.g. telephone numbers) on it, use a ballpoint pen or similar that won't wash off! Having said all that, it's about the best walking guide I have used.

Summary: A useful tool for a walker
Comment: Walking the West Highland Way in August, I needed a map and I chose the Footprint map. To make it short: It shows any details a walker is in need for and that's why this map is a really useful tool. It's delivered in a plastic bag that makes it waterproof and shows the complete way in 10 sections, with additional information about the way itself, acommodation, camping sites and distances. I am going to walk the West Highland Way again, and this map will be in my bag, that's for sure.
