Summary: WORLD WAR II COVER ART ON WWI DVD -- SAYS IT ALL!
Comment: This DVD is a JOKE! The front of the box tells you everything you need to know! Yes, those are freaking PANZER tanks from WWII on the disc jacket! World War II, you know, the one that came TWENTY YEARS AFTER World War I? The people who made this DVD don't know a thing about history, and it shows. Don't waste your time or your money on this.

Summary: What happened to the previous bad reviews?
Comment: Hey, there used to be a couple of reviews that gave this program a very poor rating. What happened to them? Could the producers have some inside contacts at amazon? The first thing wrong with this program is its cover, which features tanks from World War Two...not World War One. Does this make anyone suspect the quality of product.
There were also major errors in fact in the description of product. A program needs more than great archival footage to make it fascinating.

Summary: Emotionally Striking
Comment: In a day and age when we are debating the role of America as "The World's Policeman" it's interesting to see documentary footage from an era when the country was mostly isolationist and only went off to war in Europe as a last resort - after all, didn't our ocean's protect us? The footage here is very good, particularly considering how old it is (1914 to 1917) and how hard it must have been to preserve. There is footage from both before the war with the president motivivating people to fight and during the battles t hemselves, which is the original trench warfare in the War To End All Wars. I liked the fact that there is little to no narration, so the films have to stand up on their own - and they do so very well.

Summary: Good Vintage Footage
Comment: This is some of the oldest film footage I've ever ordered on DVD. You can see the age in the grain of the film, but it's not really that distracting. If anything, it makes it seem more real, you know?

The clips try to make light of the boys going off to war - and I'm sure their original intent was to make Americans less freaked out about their soldiers heading across the ocean.

It makes this part of history seem real to me in a way that history class didn't.
