Summary: Excellent Video, Lousy Soundtrack!
Comment: This video of Scotland is one of the best tourist guides I've seen. It is quite comprehensive and covers everything from the Hebrides to Loch Ness. The narrator's voice is pleasant and pleasing to listen to, and I learned a great deal... Such as how Whiskey is made, about the early cotton workers in Scotland, and salmon fishing. This film highlights must-see landmarks, and covers briefly the history and people of each region.What nearly ruined it for me was the repetitive harp music used in the track. As a person who has played the harp for many years, I feel the harp has its place and is a beautiful instrument. However, the sound track was overdone, playing loudly at various times, and the jigs and reels selected were extremely repetitive. This proves that there CAN be too much of a good thing even harp music. These songs are not meant to be listened to over and over again, but are meant to accompany dancing and singing. Please, if this is re-issued, choose a less grating soundtrack.
Even though I was put-off by the poorly chosen soundtrack, I'm still giving this video 5 stars. It was an excellent documentary. Maybe next time I'll watch it with the sound switched off!

Summary: A good video to see prior to your Scottish vacation
Comment: After returning from Scotland, I'm glad I took the time to view this video beforehand. Not only was it interesting from a historical standpoint, but it helped me make choices about sites I wanted to see, such as Blair Castle.Anyone planning to tour Scotland will likely find something of interest in this video. I recommend it for any future traveler.
