Editorial Reviews:

Including 30 walks with stops at more than 180 fine pubs, this practical pocket-sized guide covers every part of London, from the heart of the city and the bustling West End to majestic riverside routes and the leafy Wimbledon common. Each pub on every walk has been selected for its high quality ale, its location, and its superb architectural heritage. Trails of varying lengths suit everyone from the casual pub goer to active walkers, and there are routes to suit pub architecture aficionados, shoppers, theater goers, literary lovers, and beer tourists. The walks are accompanied by an easy-to-follow map, detailed pub listings with hours of operation, average walking times, and notes on interesting places to see along the way. Each starts and finishes close to public transportation and many link to adjacent walks. Neat, compact, and highly informative, this is the perfect companion for a day out discovering the real London.

Summary: Essential for real ale enthusiasts visiting London
Comment: This excellent guide provides reviews of well over 100 London pubs, all of which offer real ale, arranged by neighborhood into short walks of 5-7 pubs. On a recent visit to London, I found a few real gems in this guide. If you're over there, do not miss the spectacular Cittie of York, a Samuel Smith house near the Inns of Court.

Summary: Its the Pubs AND the beer
Comment: I bought this book over in England after going on one the authors aletrails, he really knows his stuff about beer, but the book is really about the best pubs in terms of architecture and social history. Its not about just finding good beer, though he certainly tells you about that as well - and where the good pub grub is. Its a great offbeat guide to London and takes you to "real" places and shows you how 'real' Londeners live. Great to see its now available in America.
